Detailed list of topics for discussion:
1) The Banning of Plastic and Polystyrene food containers along with BPA being used in food containers and store receipts printed with BPA that can be handed to children.
2) House of Representatives bill number H.R.2238 - break free from plastic pollution act of 2021-117th Congress (2021-2022) this bill has health in it so many times to tell us which Department of Health or department of Human Services or whatnot is going to preside over the matter is ridiculous. Yes, people need to know why all these government agencies need to preside over making this bill/law work. More importantly people need to know about the epidemics that are being caused by all these plastic containers and microplastics and why we should not use them.
People need to know that styrene causes or helps cause obesity gastrointestinal problems hearing loss skin dermatitis and several cancers like leukemia breast cancer thyroid cancer if these were listed in the bill it would make sense why we need all the different entities from the government that cover health. More importantly people have to know facts like the epidemics that this chemical causes. Everything is not listed here because styrene attacks the whole body. People need to know that the Academy of Pediatrics said we shouldn't be feeding our kids off of containers with three six or seven recycling codes since 2018. People need to know that the chemical styrene that leeches out of some of these plastic and polystyrene containers have been causing diabetes since 1979. They need to know that styrene from polystyrene has been causing depression since 1980.
3) BPA is the major reason why IVF is needed for many families just to have a family. BPA attacks the reproductive system of woman, men and children. There is ongoing research that shows the BPA is affecting the brain in the way that effects sexualization; the research shows that it affects the brain, so the person does not know whether they want to be sexually active at all, straight, gay or otherwise.
4) These corporations that produced these chemicals that be put in our food and the corporations that make the containers Along with the lobby groups that fight to limit the responsibility of all these corporations should be held accountable for the damage that they've done to the American people. In other words, they should pay for all the medical care that they've caused the American people for all the pandemics that are caused by their products.
5) We have held the tobacco companies liable for the damage that the bacco smoke does. Styrene is only one chemical in tobacco smoke yet, if you look at the side effects from tobacco smoke and the side effects from styrene, they mirror each other for the most part. So why aren't these industries that are produced in the BPA, styrene, and the food container manufacturers and again the lobbyist that fight for these people to keep the side effects quiet being held responsible.
6) The FDA was established to protect the health of the American people. Now all we see from them is the protection of the corporations that are poisoning the American people. I will give you a slight example. In 2015 several medical groups petition the FDA to eliminate styrene as a food additive. 2016 the styrene lobby petitioned the FDA to eliminate styrene because they said it was not being used as much anymore. In 2018 the FDA finally made a decision but left it vague as to whether they took styrene off the food flavoring list. Most of that decision was made on a 2013 decision that the FDA made about the Styrofoam food containers end the styrene that leeched out of them into our food stating it was within tolerance. Nowhere in there documentation have I found that the FDA looked into all manners on which the human body is contaminated by styrene it made a clear decision and how many times people can breathe the air which has styrene in it from many different sources like automobile exhaust, diesel exhaust, white out, VOC's from floor cleaners and other cleaners along with various other exposures to this chemical. The FDA took long enough to consider these but, in viewing the documentation this is all absent. It seems like the FDA does not take the accumulative effect into their decisions.
7) American Academy of Pediatrics Says Some Common Food Additives May Pose Health Risks to Children in 2018. Here is a link: https://www.comfortncolor.com/HTML/Polystyrene_Styrene%20Ban/Child%20Data/2018_The%20American%20Academy%20of%20Pediatrics.pdf This document was put out the same year 2018 as the FDA document stating that styrene is still considered safe in polystyrene food containers. How are Americans supposed to make informed decisions when we have doctors putting out documentation showing different than the FDA. What's more important in this document is:” “We need more research to better understand how food additives affect human health,” said AAP Council on Environmental Health Chairperson Dr. Jennifer Lowry, MD, FAAP. “Retesting is most important for the chemicals with increasing evidence of risks, but also those with safety data based on outdated testing methods or animal studies.” She points to a recent review of nearly 4,000 food additives found that 64 percent of them had had no research showing they were safe for people to eat or drink.” And that people should avoid feeding their children from:” Avoid plastics with recycling codes 3 (phthalates), 6 (styrene), and 7 (bisphenols) unless they are labeled as “biobased” or “greenware.”
8) Since 2018 researchers have found microplastic in the blood of humans. It's not just one kind of plastic, it's all kinds of plastic, the ones we think are good and the ones we know that are bad. If this plastic is in our blood, it is in every organ of the body from the brain to the toes. Let me give you a couple links. https://www.foodpackagingforum.org/news/microplastics-affect-gut-function-and-microbiota https://www.foodpackagingforum.org/news/microplastics-in-human-stool https://particleandfibretoxicology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12989-020-00358-y https://www.iflscience.com/microplastics-detected-entering-the-brain-just-2-hours-after-ingestion-68593 Researchers and scientists have not figured out what the effects of these are going to end up being on the human body. To saddle the American people with the cost of the incompetence of the FDA because they pay attention totally to the corporations that are put in these toxins in our body is just wrong.
